Hawks Downed by BSC

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks, now 3-13 overall and 3-6 in the CCS fell to the Panthers of BSC (11-7 overall, 4-3 in their conference) 98-78.

The first quarter deemed tough for the Hawks, with no one scoring above four points. Huntingdon was only able to add 13 to the board while Birmingham Southern capitalized on the Hawks turnovers to score 30 points in the first ten minutes (30-13). Leading scorer, AB Davis began her scoring frenzy in the second quarter where she added 11 points shooting 4-5 from the field. Huntingdon was able to outscore the Panthers in the 2nd 29-27 but it would not be enough to cut into the first quarter deficit heading to halftime (57-42).

The Panthers scored 21 points off the Hawks turnovers.

 

In the second half, the third quarter was huge for BSC as they gained their largest lead of the night with 38 seconds remaining. Again the Hawks struggled to put the ball through the net as they scored 13 points for the quarter and BSC scored 22. In the fourth quarter the Hawks were able to cut the lead to 11 with efforts from Alina Shoemake and Kinstin Davis who both had double-doubles on the night. However, their effort would come too late as the Panthers nailed three threes to seal the game. For the game, Birmingham Southern made 10 threes compared to Huntingdon's six. The Hawk's 32 turnovers were converted into 39 points for the Panthers.
