Hawks Top Agnes Scott

Montgomery, Alabama -- The Hawks (8-15 overall, 7-8 in the CCS) defeated Agnes Scott (3-21 overall, 3-12 in the CCS) with a score of 73-59.

Alina Shoemake's layup in the first twenty seconds of the game gave the Hawks the first lead of the night. After that the Hawks and Scotties went bucket for bucket until they were tied up at 8 with four minutes left to play in the quarter. The Hawks found a spark behind leading scorer, Kinstin Davis's basket to go on an 11-2 run to close out the quarter 19-10. A three point basket by Erica Rodriguez with 9 minutes to go in the second quarter gave the Hawks their biggest lead of the night at 14 (24-10). The Scotties answered with three threes of their own to start a run and bring the game back within three points with 2:50 to go in the half. Huntingdon remained scoreless for six minutes and finally hit a layup with 46 seconds remaining but allowed Agnes to get one more shot in before heading to halftime, Hawks up by four (32-28).

Senior, AB Davis began the second half with a triple to push the lead back to seven and start a 7-0 run for Huntingdon (39-28). The Scotties traded more baskets with the Hawks and hit a few key three pointers to again bring the game back within three points at the three minute mark (45-42). Another made Agnes three brought the game within one point in the final minute of the third quarter (51-50). Kinstin Davis closed out the third with a 4-0 run of her own to give the Hawks a five point lead heading into the final quarter (55-50). Agnes Scott hit their sixth three of the night to pull back within one possession early in the fourth (55-53). Huntingdon stepped it up to go on a 12-2 run led by AB Davis's twelve points in the fourth quarter to secure the lead for the remainder of the game and lift the Hawks past Agnes Scott.

The Hawks return to Roland Arena on Saturday February 18th at 2:00 PM CST to take on the Scots of Covenant for senior day. Senior day activities will be held after the women's game.
