Hawks Drop Quarterfinal Game at Piedmont

Demorest, Georgia – The Hawks finished the season 8-17 overall as they fell in the first round of the Collegiate Conference of the South tournament to Piedmont University 97-71.

AB Davis began the first quarter with a bucket for the Hawks that was answered by a Piedmont 6-0 run. Davis again scored to keep a close distance to the Lions (6-4). Both teams continued to battle and freshman, Deshauna Foote added consecutive baskets of her own to bring the game within two at the halfway point (10-8). Leading scorer, AB Davis continued her scoring streak to tie the game back at ten that was followed by a Kinstin Davis free-throw to regain the Hawks lead (11-10). A quick score from the Lions led to AB Davis draining a three. However, Piedmont answered with a made three of their own for more lead changes in the first. In the last minute of the quarter Piedmont hit key free throws to boost them past the Hawks and AB Davis scored her twelfth points of the first quarter after another made three heading into the second quarter down nine (26-17). An 11-0 run to begin the second quarter by the Lions left the Hawks unable to find an answer before heading into halftime (46-30).

After the first half, the Hawks tried to find a spark as freshman Erica Rodriguez nailed three threes in the third, but second chance points from Piedmont made it difficult for the Hawks to gain way in the deficit. The fourth quarter claimed no different as the Lions continued to shoot 50% from the field and 40% from behind the arc.

Piedmont had 24 second chance points off of 21 offensive rebounds

The Lions shot 50% from the field compared to the Hawks 38%

Huntingdon was outscored in the paint 43-26
