Hawks Fall On The Road At Berea
MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In their second matchup of the season, Huntingdon women's basketball (6-13 overall, 3-7 CCS) was defeated by the Mountaineers of Berea College(19-2 overall, 12-0 CCS) in a highly contested matchup, 69-62.
How it happened
First Quarter

Berea jumped out to a fast start, taking an 11-1 lead in the first 6 minutes of the game

The Hawks began to battle back with Makayla Ford scoring 3 points in the final 10 seconds of the quarter to reduce the Berea lead to 15-6 going into the second quarter
Second Quarter

Similar to the first quarter, Berea scored a quick 5 points in the first two minutes, but the Hawks were able to match those points with baskets from Makayla Ford and Kinstin Davis holding the deficit at 9, 20-11 with 8:20 to go until halftime

After multiple possessions of trading baskets for both teams, Huntingdon found their stride, going on a 10-4 run in the final 4 minutes of the half

Berea followed a midrange shot by Kinstin Davis with one of their own in the final 20 seconds of the half, putting the Hawks behind 32-26 going into the break.
Third Quarter

The Hawks started the second half hot from beyond the arc, with Faith Johnson drilling the first one of the half at the 9:00 minute mark to put Huntingdon within 5, 34-29

The Mountaineers followed Johnson's triple with a 4-1 run, extending their lead back to 38-30 at the 6:45 mark

After multiple possessions of trading baskets, Berea reached a double digit lead at the 3:12 mark with a pair of free throws, putting the Hawks behind 47-37

Free throws from Deshauna Foote and Faith Johnson in the final minute of the quarter put the Hawks behind 49-40 going into the final period
Fourth Quarter

The Hawks found a second wind to start the last quarter, opening the quarter on a 5-2 run to reduce the lead to 51-45 with 6 and a half minutes to go

Deshauna Foote put in a short jumper to put the Hawks within 4, 55-51 with 4 minutes to go

The Mountaineers found a new life in the final 3 minutes of the matchup, taking a 66-56 lead in the final minute, and the Hawks ran out of time, falling to Berea 69-62
