Burdeshaw and Hawks in 2nd entering second round of USA South Tournament
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Debra Ann Burdeshaw turned in her best collegiate round and the Huntingdon women's golf team shot its second best round of the season on Monday in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.
Burdeshaw shot a 1-over-par 73 in the opening round and the Hawks shot 30-over-par 318. Entering Tuesday's second round, Burdeshaw is one stroke off the lead and tied for second. As a team, Huntingdon is second in the field of six teams.
Second-ranked Methodist leads the tournament with a 10-over 298. Southern Virginia is third with a 49-over 337.
Methodist's Jillian Drinkard turned in Monday's best round with an even-par 72.
Four Hawks are in the top-10 after Round 1. In addition to Burdeshaw, Abigail Cody shot 5-over 77 and is tied for fifth and Jasmine Paynter and Anna Beth Harris each shot 12-over 84 and are tied for 10th. Lindsey Oxley is tied for 13th with a 16-over 88.
Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in Round 2 of the USA South Conference Tournament on Tuesday.
