WLAX Soars Past Missouri Valley

Conway, Arkansas – The Hawks (1-1) flew past the Missouri Valley (0-2) in their matchup tonight at Hendrix College 21-2.

Scoring in the first twenty seconds of the game, Amara Veng put the Hawks on top. Dylanie Chappel and Mackenzie Wolford added goals for the Hawks within the first five minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Three more Hawks got in on the scoring action with Peyton Beachler, Celina Owens-Campbell, and Mary Meaghan St. John adding goals and increasing the lead to 6-0. To close out the first period Chappel scored her second and third goals of the night within a minute and a half of each other to push into the second period up, 8-0.

Owens-Campbell accounted for two more goals to start the second before Missouri Valley found their way on the board (11-1). The Hawks added a few more goals before halftime and the Vikings were able to get one more past the goalie with a score of 14-2.

The second half was still claimed by the Hawks as Chappel scored three more goals in the third for a new career-high six goals and Owens-Campbell scored a season-high six goals to keep increasing the Huntingdon lead. The Vikings were unable to add anymore goals for the night as Hawks' goalie, Elizabeth Todd had one save on three shots to lead the defense and help the Huntingdon gain their first win of the season.
