Hawks Lose Battle with Pfeiffer

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon (1-8 overall, 0-5 USA South) fell the Falcons of Pfeiffer (3-8 overall, 3-1 USA South) in a close contest, 9-6.

Throughout the downpour of rain today, the Hawks fought with the Falcons in this USA South matchup. Celina Owens-Campbell struck first for the game with an unassisted goal in the first two minutes of the first quarter. Pfeiffer answered with back-to-back goals to take the lead at 2-1. Owens-Campbell found Mackenzie Wolford for her first goal of the game to tie it at two before the close of the first.

Owens-Campbell continued to shine as she began the second quarter with her second goal and reclaimed the Hawks lead (3-2). However, after traded goals from the Falcons and Wolford, Pfeiffer found themselves on top at 6-4 heading into halftime.

In the net for the Hawks, Elizabeth Todd continued to fight and held the Falcons scoreless across the third quarter. Offensively in the third, Dylanie Chappel found the net and Wolford flew her third goal of the game by Pfeiffer's goalie to tie the game at six going into the final quarter.

Huntingdon was unable to convert in the fourth and Pfeiffer tagged three goals to claim the win over the Hawks.
