Hawks Crush the Pride of Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC – Huntingdon (2-8 overall, 1-5 USA South) defeated Greensboro (0-8 overall, 0-6 USA South) for their first conference win of the season 16-1.

The Hawks earned their first conference win backed by an early 4-0 start in the first quarter. Goals from Celina Owens-Campbell, Mackenzie Wolford, and two from Dylanie Chappel flew the Hawks to the second quarter with momentum.

Starting goalkeeper, Mia Haulbrook continued to motivate Huntingdon defensively as she allowed no goals in the first half of play. Chappel and Owens-Campbell added two more goals in the second and freshman Amara Veng joined in on the scoring frenzy before heading to halftime up 9-0.

The third quarter deemed no different for the Hawks as Chappel was just shy of her career high 6 goals as she tagged her fifth of the game. Owens-Campbell earned her seventh goal late in the fourth quarter for a season-high. The Pride finally scored a goal with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth, but it would not be enough to spark a comeback as the Hawks picked up the road win.
