Huntingdon Alum Brandon Sewell Named Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Huntingdon Athletics has announced that Brandon Sewell(Huntingdon class of 2015) has been named the Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse.

Sewell returns to Huntingdon after being the first and only Head Men's lacrosse coach at LaGrange College, with the program fielding for the first time in 2020. Under Sewell's leadership, the Panthers steadily improved in each of his four seasons at the helm, including USA South Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024.

Prior to becoming the head coach at LaGrange, Sewell serves as Andrew Carey's assistant coach from 2017-2019, helping lead the Hawks to conference championships in 2018 and 2019. Sewell also previously served as the chief operating officer for the Southwest Lacrosse Lacrosse Company located in Ferrum, Virginia.

As a player for Huntingdon, Sewell was a four-year starter as a midfielder/face off for Huntingdon. He ranked first all-time for the Hawks in points, assists, ground balls, and face-offs won. Sewell was second in career goals scored and served as a team captain for three seasons. He ranked in the top 25 in the nation in ground balls per game for three straight seasons. Sewell graduated from Huntingdon with a degree in biology.

Coach Sewell on what it means to return to his Alma Mater:

" I would like to thank President West and Director of Athletics Eric Levanda for giving me the opportunity to return to Huntingdon and take over the women's lacrosse program. I look forward to this new challenge, and I'm confident that we can recruit a strong and competitive team to compete at a high level within this conference. Coming back to Huntingdon to grow this program on a beautiful campus and a high-caliber academic institution is something I could not pass on."

Athletic Director Eric Levanda on Sewell joining the Huntingdon staff:

"It's always great to have a Hawk come back to lead one of our programs.  Brandon joins a large chunk of our alumni based athletic staff, in that same endearing regard.Brandon is a familiar face, having watched him play, coach, and grow here.  I was proud to see the job he did at LaGrange, in building that program.
I think he can have a tremendously positive impact on our program all the way around, from coaching, recruiting, and preparing our women for their next phase in life."
