Hawks split in home opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon wrestling team earned a split on Saturday in its first home matches of the season

The Hawks beat St. Andrews University 38-7 and lost to Emmanuel College 20-15.

Andrew Smith (125 pounds), Quintez Pearson (149), Mac Hirsh (184) and Joseph Pearson (285) led the Hawks with wins in both matches.

Against St. Andrews (NAIA), Joseph Pearson and Jayson Spencer (174) each won by pin and Michael Mort (141) won by technical fall. Smith, Quintez Pearson and Hirsh each won by decision and Gabriel Pittman (165) and Jack Haury (197) both won by forfeit.

In the match against Division II Emmanuel, Hirsh won by pin and Smith, Quintez Pearson, and Joseph Pearson each won by decision.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon hosts Thomas More (3:30 p.m.) and Life University (5 p.m.) in Roland Arena on Dec. 17.
