Hawks Fall to Covenant On Senior Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Huntingdon Women's soccer ( 5-9-1 overall, 3-5 CCS) were defeated by the Covenant Scots (5-4-5 overall, 4-1-2 CCS) in Saturday's regular season finale and Senior day by a score of 5-0.

Before the start of the game, Huntingdon recognized their 2 seniors for the accomplishments both on and off the field:

Madison Tryon- Orlando, FL

Joslyn (Jojo) Dahlberg- Orlando, FL

Covenant's Lila Wiley opened the game with a goal assisted by Emma Riggs just two minutes in, and the Scots would not stop there. By the end of the first half, the Scots had taken 12 shots compared to 3 from the Hawks, scoring on 4 of those attempts. Hawks goalkeeper Libby Williams finished the half with 3 saves.

The Hawks ramped up their defensive aggression in the second half, limiting the Scots to just 4 shots in the half, but it could not make up for Covenant's strong first half start. Covenant's forward scored midway through the 2nd half, and that ended the scoring output for the day.

Senior Madison Tryon had a shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the Hawks would not see another attempt at the goal. The Scots goalkeeper Lucy Handoff saved all 4 of Huntingdon's shots on goal throughout the game.

The Hawks look forward to the CCS Championship tournament beginning on October 28th.
