Huntingdon, Piedmont and Covenant Claim Weekly Tennis Awards

DECATUR, Ga.- With only three weeks left in the season, the Great South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce this week's men's and women's singles and doubles tennis award winners. Taylor Clark from Huntingdon and Katie Sailors and Morgan Reed of Piedmont are the women's singles and doubles winners while John Hirte of Covenant and Christopher Davidson and Nick Hallberg of Piedmont earned the men's honors.

Clark improved to 10-5 and 5-1 in the GSAC with wins over Covenant and Spelman this weekend. Clark defeated Covenant's Madeline Hyatt 6-1, 6-1 and Spelman's Kemi Oyewole 6-4, 7-5. The combo of Sailors and Reed went 2-1 in doubles play, with an 8-0 win at #2 doubles vs LaGrange, 8-4 loss vs. Berry, and 8-1 win vs Salem. The duo is 5-4 on the year.

Going 2-0 for the week of Mar. 25-31, Hirte won a tough match against Maryville's #1 player 6-0,6-3. Later in the week, He went on to beat Huntingdon's #1 player 6-3, 6-1. The duo of Davidson and Hallberg went 2-0 in doubles play; a 8-3 win at #2 doubles vs. LaGrange and another 8-3 win at #2 vs. Berry College.
