Lady Hawks tennis delivers solid performance in John McWilliams Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team opened the 2013 John McWilliams Fall Invitational on Saturday with solid play in both singles and doubles competition.

Entering the final day of the tournament, Birmingham-Southern leads with 11 points, Huntingdon is second with 10 points, Millsaps is third with eight points and Point University is fourth with one point.

In doubles action, the teams of Britni Thibodeau-Hannah Still (No. 1), Daniela Lozano-Micaela White (No. 2), and Tara-Beth Hall-Rory Wilson (No. 3) all took their matches to sweep the doubles points.

Thibodeau dropped both matches at No. 1 singles, while Still picked up a point in her first round of play but lost the second match at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles Lozano swept her two matches and Wilson split at No. 4 singles, winning her first match and dropping the second match.

The No. 5 (Arielle Barraca) and No. 6 (White) singles players swept their matches for the Lady Hawks.

In the B-draw singles, Deidre Corbin lost her first match but defeated Birmingham-Southern's Karivki in the consolation round. Tara-Beth Hall defeated Karivki in the first round and beat teammate Kaitlin Burns in the second round. 

Sunday's final round is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. from Lagoon Park.
