Women’s tennis cruises to third straight win

COLUMBUS, Miss.  – The Huntingdon women's tennis team knocked off the Mississippi University for Women 9-0 on Friday. The win was the third straight 9-0 victory for the Hawks.  

For the second straight match, Huntingdon only dropped two games in winning all three doubles matches before taking all six singles matches in straight sets.

Madeline Creel (No. 1), Lucy Burch (No. 2), Allison Stegall (No. 3), Meredith Head (No. 4), Alonda Weaver (No. 5) and Emily Fendley (No. 6) earned singles victories. Stegall and Weaver both won 6-0, 6-0. Creel and Burch only lost one game in each of their wins and Head and Fendley each only lost two games in their matches.

In doubles, the team of Burch-Stegall (No. 1) won 8-0 and the teams of Weaver-Kennedy Harp (No. 2) and Ashley Burke-Katelyn Morris (No. 3) each won 8-1.
