Hawks Soar Past Mountaineers and Lions in CCS Tri-Match

Berea, Kentucky – Huntingdon Volleyball takes down the Mountaineers of Berea 3-1, and the Lions of Piedmont 3-0 in a Collegiate Conference of the South Tri-Match.

In match one, the Hawks battled with Berea from the start. After gaining a lead of 6 (12-6), Berea sparked some energy to tie the game at 17 points; but that would not be an issue for the Hawks as they fought to end the set 25-19.

The second set caused some trouble for Huntingdon as they came out battling until the Mountaineers gained a 12-9 lead. Berea would win the second set 25-16, ensuring a fourth set.

As the Hawks said, "no more," the final two sets were a fight. Huntingdon was not able to gain a lead of more than 6, but still held a lead for the entire third set; winning it 25-23. The fourth set switched leaders twice with the Hawks able to tie the game at 17 and win out the set and game 25-21.

Match two against the Lions of Piedmont started off hot for the Hawks as they took an early 5-0 lead. The Lions hopped right back in the action and tied the game at 10 and even taking the lead, 12-11. However, the Hawks would only allow the Lions to get 5 more points, ending the set 25-17.

Second set, the Hawks would keep the lead the entire time and finish 25-21. In the third, Piedmont would hold the lead until for majority of the match until the Hawks were able to tie it at 22 after being down 7. The Hawks would claim victory with a final of 25-22.

Hawks return to action Tuesday November 1st in Roland Arena for the first round of the CCS Tournament. (Opponent and time TBA, Admission will be charged)
