Hawks Fall Short in Conference Finale

Lookout Mountain, Georgia – Hawks battled to the end for the first ever Collegiate Conference of the South Volleyball Championship. They would fall just short of Covenant in three sets to earn Runner-Up. The scores to each set were: 29-27, 25-21, 25-20.

 

The first set was all Hawks as they got up 6 points on an attack error by Covenant (11-5). The Scots would not give up on their home court as they fought to tie the game at 16 but would be unable to take the lead until the 21st point (21-20). The Hawks continued to battle and refused to let the Scots win it at 25. A kill from Covenant and an attack error by Huntingdon would end the set at 29-27. 

Set two would be all Scots in the beginning as the Hawks got down by 4 (10-6). The Hawks would push back in and tie the set at 10 to battle back. The score would waiver between a few points before the Scots would go up 7, 22-15. The Hawks would fall in set two by four points, 25-21.

The final set of the match would be another close one as the Scots and Hawks would battle for the Conference Championship. With the game tied at 15, Covenant would keep the lead for the remainder of the game and finish the set 25-20.

 

The Collegiate Conference of the South took the time to recognize the All-Championship team, which included two Hawks, #24 Morgan Ilsley and #17 Reece Rhodes.

 

Huntingdon would finish their phenomenal season as runner-up in the Collegiate Conference of the South after being voted fourth in the preseason poll, with a final record of 28-9.
