Volleyball Drops Game One to Dallas

JACKSON, Miss. – Huntingdon Volleyball fell in day one of the Millsaps Tournament to the University of Dallas, 3-1.

Dallas held the lead for the entire first set after going on a 8-1 run and finishing the set at 25-14.

In the second set, the Hawks jumped on top until the fifth point where Dallas tied it. UD took the lead by an error from the Hawks and continued to increase their lead to 17-13. With a kill from Ashlen Janowski and an ace from Jessi Hilyer, the Hawks sparked some momentum to get back in the set down by two, 22-20. Dallas did not give up their lead and took the second set to go up 2-0 in the game.

The third set was a constant battle until Izzy Valldeperas began a scoring frenzy with a kill. Seven consecutive points for the Hawks and a Valldeperas kill lifted them past Dallas in the third to get back in the game!

In the fourth set, Dallas landed 14 points in a row to surge past the Hawks and take the game in four.

The Hawks return to action in Day Two of the Millsaps Tournament tomorrow against Millsaps at 10:00 AM CT.
