Hawks Take Down LaGrange

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon Volleyball earned their fourth conference victory with their defeat over LaGrange College in tonight's matchup.

The Hawks overcame a close first two sets to sweep the Panthers 3-0 with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-10.

In set one, Izzy Valldeperas led the Hawks with 3 kills and the team combined for 12 total kills with seven different players adding points for Huntingdon. The only time the score was tied in the first set was after both teams traded initial points. Then the Hawks claimed the lead that they never gave up taking the first set win.

Eva Ellenburg led set two with four kills and one assist in a back-and-forth set. With four lead changes, the Hawks battled with the Panthers. Each team had seven errors in the set but at the Hawks 20^th point Alysa Bias's two service aces gave the team momentum to close out the set and Molly Wilson and Eva Ellenburg finalized the last three points with kills that stunned the Panthers.

Junior Jessi Hilyer held down the third set for the Hawks with a double-double for the game. She served the first ten points for a 10-0 lead that forced a LaGrange timeout. Hilyer ended with 5 services aces for the set and Valldeperas added four kills. Huntingdon made no errors in the final set as they flew by LaGrange, who only had four kills.

The Hawks return to Roland Arena on Thursday to battle the Owls of MUW. JV game will begin at 5:00 PM CT and the varsity game will be at 7:00 PM CT.
