Hawks Lose in Five to Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss. – Huntingdon Volleyball (7-16 overall, 6-5 CCS) fell in their rematch to Belhaven University (7-18 overall, 5-7 CCS) in five sets, 3-2.

The Hawks fell behind in the first set after 7 errors equated to their 7 kills, while the Blazers had 11 kills in the set. Belhaven took the first one 25-14.

Huntingdon came back in the second set and took a 25-21 set win over the Blazers. After 12 kills and going up as much as 8-2 at the beginning of the set, the Hawks battled to tie the game at one.

In the third, both teams went point for point until a five-point run for the Blazers lifted them up 20-14. Back-to-back kills from Ashlen Janowski rallied the Hawks back into the game but it was not enough as they came up short 25-18.

Needing a win in the fourth set, the Hawks jumped up 4-1. Belhaven's nine errors boosted Huntingdon to a 25-20 set win, forcing a fifth set for the night.

Huntingdon started hot with four straight points to begin the final set. Up 8-3, Huntingdon allowed the Blazers to make their own run and tie the game at the 13th point. Two errors from the Hawks closed the game and lifted Belhaven on top in the CCS rematch at 15-13.
