Second Seeded Hawks Host LaGrange In Opening Round of CCS Championship Tournament

ATLANTA, GA (October 31, 2023) - The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced the seedings and bracket for the 2023 CCS Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament, which will be played Tuesday through Saturday (November 7 – November 11). The second edition of the tournament will be hosted by the highest seed involved in each individual contest.

The tournament opens on Tuesday, November 7 with a play-in game between the No. 8 seed, Agnes Scott (2-24; 2-14 CCS), and the No. 9 seed Wesleyan (4-21; 1-15 CCS). The winner of that game will face the No. 1 seed, and regular season champions, Covenant (28-2; 16-0 CCS). The No. 4 seed Piedmont (14-14; 11-5 CCS) plays No. 5 seed Berea (15-12; 10-6 CCS) in Game 3. No. 2 seed Huntingdon (12-16; 11-5 CCS) faces No. 7 seed LaGrange (4-20; 3-13 CCS) in Game 4, while No. 3 seed Maryville (16-13; 11-5 CCS) takes on No. 6 seed Belhaven (9-20; 7-9 CCS) in Game 5.

The Tuesday winners then will move on to play the tournament's top four seeds on Friday, Nov. 10 in the semifinals.

 
The winners of both semifinal games will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 11.

 

The 2nd seeded Hawks come into the tournament with a 11-5 conference record. They will host the seventh seeded Panthers of LaGrange college in Roland Arena on Tuesday, November 7th. In their last matchup, the Hawks swept the Panthers 3-0. The Hawks are led by junior Ashlen Janowski with 284 total kills on the season. She is the 8th highest individual scorer in all of the CCS this season.

The team also features senior Kennedy Chambers, who is 8th in the conference in total blocks on the season.
