USA South releases Academic All-Conference selections

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A total of 184 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday. The student-athletes, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,702 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

Seven Hawks named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – Seven Huntingdon College football players were recognized with the release of National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame’s Hampshire Honor Society. Offensive lineman Reed Crosby, quarterback Michael Lambert, running back Kobe Smith, defensive linemen Haylan Bailey, DeAnte’ Griffith and Red Hinton and linebacker Drew Schlemmer were among 1,465 players from 369 schools named to the 2020 Hampshire Honor Society.

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the ninth-year event. Division III Week is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes. As part of Huntingdon College's participation in Division III Week, student-athletes will be featured this week. DeAnte' Griffith and Vanessa Maldonado are today's featured student-athletes.

Porter, Thomas, Hixon and Caldwell earn All-Region honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Four Huntingdon players earned All-South Region recognition with the release of the D3football.com All-Region teams on Tuesday. Senior receiver Otis Porter, junior running back Eric Thomas, sophomore offensive lineman Darrell Hixon and junior linebacker Mal Caldwell were each named third-team All-Region.
Hawks’ playoff run ends against defending national champion Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON, Texas. – The Huntingdon football team ended its season with a 42-6 loss to top-ranked and defending national champion Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Huntingdon SAAC heads athletic teams’ community service effort

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently helped raise a collection of more than 6,000 items for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. The effort was part of the USA South Athletic Conference’s Cans Across the Conference food drive. All 18 member institutions of the USA South collected non-perishable items to benefit local charities of their choosing.

Huntingdon knocks off No. 19 Berry, advances to Round 2 of playoffs

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Huntingdon football team refused to accept defeat against 19th-ranked Berry College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The Hawks and Viking swapped leads six times on Saturday. But in the end, Huntingdon emerged with a 27-24 victory and snapped Berry’s 22-game home winning streak.

Porter and Turk earn top honors with release of USA South All-Conference awards

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Two Huntingdon Hawks earned top individual awards and a total of nine players were named All-Conference with the release of the USA South All-Conference football awards on Wednesday. Senior receiver Otis Porter was named Offensive Player of the Year, head coach Mike Turk was named Coach of the Year and a total of nine Hawks earned first-team or second-team All-Conference recognition.
Lambert named USA South Offensive Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Senior Michael Lambert was named an Athlete of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference on Monday. The quarterback was named football’s Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. This is the fourth straight week a Huntingdon football player has earned recognition from the conference and the seventh time this season.
Hawks will travel to Berry for first round of playoffs

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon football team will play at Berry College on Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Kickoff will be at 11 a.m. (Central) at Valhalla Stadium.
Hawks clinch fourth conference title in five years

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon football team left no room for chance at LaGrange College on Saturday. The Hawks built a 31-point lead early in the third quarter and beat the Panthers 45-21 to clinch the USA South Athletic Conference championship. The conference title is the Hawks’ fourth in the past five seasons.
Peppers earns second USA South Defensive Rookie of the Week honor

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Freshman Casey Peppers earned his second Athlete of the Week recognition from the USA South Athletic Conference on Monday. The linebacker was named football's Defensive Rookie of the Week for a second consecutive week. This is the third straight week a Huntingdon defensive player has earned recognition from the conference.
