USA South releases preseason lacrosse polls

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  – The USA South Athletic Conference released its men's and women's preseason lacrosse polls on Wednesday.

The Huntingdon men are ranked sixth and the Huntingdon women are ranked 10th.

In the men's poll, defending conference tournament champion Piedmont is the preseason favorite with seven first-place votes and a total of 49 points. Greensboro is second with 37 points and Pfeiffer is third with one first-place vote and 36 points.

Rounding out the poll, William Peace (31 points) is fourth, Methodist (26 points) is fifth, Huntingdon (25 points) is sixth, LaGrange (11 points) is seventh and Averett (nine points) is eighth.

Six-time defending conference tournament champion Meredith leads the women's poll with 11 first-place votes and 121 points. Pfeiffer is second with one first-place vote and 101 points, Averett is third with 97 points, Piedmont is fourth with 90 points and Methodist is fifth with 86 points.

Greensboro (62 points) is sixth, William Peace (59 points) is seventh, North Carolina Wesleyan (50 points) is eighth, Brevard (45 points) is ninth and Huntingdon (40 points) is 10th. Rounding out the poll, Salem (18 points) is 11th and LaGrange (14 points) is 12th.

The Huntingdon men open the season at the University of Dallas on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. The Huntingdon women open the season on Feb. 8 at home against the University of Dallas at 4 p.m.
