FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  – The Huntingdon men's and women's golf teams are both picked to lead the conference in the USA South Athletic Conference preseason polls.

The Huntingdon men's golf team is the preseason favorite for a fourth straight season. The Huntingdon women's golf team, in its first season of competition in the conference, is ranked second.

This is the first season the USA South has sponsored women's golf. Huntingdon competed as an independent during its first 12 seasons. In addition to Huntingdon, USA South members Methodist, Piedmont, Maryville, Greensboro and Meredith will field teams to compete in women's golf this season.

The Huntingdon men received nine of a possible 11 first-place votes and 99 points in their poll. Methodist is second with two first-place votes and 89 points. Greensboro is third with 80 points and Averett is fourth with 72 points.

Huntingdon, the defending conference champion and the 2019 Division III national runner-up, is ranked third in both the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches poll and the Golfstat National Top-25. Methodist is 11th in the Golfweek poll and 13th in the Golfstat poll and Averett is 22nd in the Golfstat poll.

The Huntingdon women received one first-place vote and 20 points in their poll. Methodist earned five first-place votes and is first with 25 points. Piedmont is third with 16 points and Maryville is fourth with 15 points.

Methodist is ranked third in the Golfstat National Top-25 and sixth in the Women's Golf Coaches Association poll.
