Hunt recognized as USA South Athlete of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior Madison Hunt was named one of the USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.  

Hunt was named the Pitcher of the Week for softball. This is the conference's first recognition of the spring for softball.

Hunt was recognized for her performance in three games to start the season. During her three appearances, Hunt was 3-0 with two complete-game shutouts. In 18.1 innings, she struck out 10, walked two, gave up 15 hits and did not allow a run.

In the Hawks' season opener, Hunt pitched 6.1 innings in a 5-1 win over Rhodes. She struck out six and allowed five hits and no runs.

Hunt pitched a complete game in an 8-0 win over Berry. In the shortened five-inning game, Hunt struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.

In her third win, Hunt pitched seven scoreless innings, struck out three, gave up seven hits and did not issue a walk in a 4-0 win over Mount St. Joseph.

Through the first two weekends of the season, Hunt leads the USA South in wins, is tied for the conference lead in ERA, is tied for third in complete games and is eighth in strikeouts.
