Laudicina earns USA South Athlete of the Week honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Freshman Kailey Laudicina was recognized as one of the USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Laudicina was named Rookie of the Week for women's lacrosse. This is her second recognition of the spring.

Laudicina was chosen for her performance in a conference win over North Carolina Wesleyan and a loss to Hendrix.

In a 21-7 win over North Carolina Wesleyan, Laudicina helped the Hawks reach 20 goals in a game for the first time since 2014. The 21 goals scored by the team tied for the second most in a game in program history.

Laudicina scored six goals in the game and had one assist. It was the second time in her first four collegiate games that Laudicina scored six goals. The six goals are one short of the program record of seven set by Shannen O'Leary in 2013.

Laudicina is the ninth Huntingdon player to score at least six goals in a game and the first in program history to do it more than once.

Laudicina closed the week with one goal in a 10-6 loss to Hendrix College.

Through five games this season, Laudicina leads Huntingdon and is third in the USA South with 18 goals and 20 total points. She leads the team and is tied for fifth in the conference with four free-position goals. She also has two assists, eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.
