MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Julian Cameron, LaGrange - The senior guard from College Park, Georgia averaged 27.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game as the Panthers split two games from the top-team in the USA South West Division, Maryville, last week. In an 88-76 road win, Cameron totaled 31 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. In an 88-81 home loss, Cameron posted 23 points, four rebounds and three steals. Also Nominated: JR Sanders, Maryville; Ladji Samoura, Brevard; Terique Miller, Berea; Chris Barnette, Covenant; Dante Burden, Methodist; Montre' Cash, Averett; Damon McDowell, N.C. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Dorian Miles, Pfeiffer - The freshman forward from Greenville, South Carolina averaged 11.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as the Falcons posted a 3-0 record last week against USA South competition. In a 75-66 win at Averett, Miles posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. In sweeping two games from Methodist, Miles averaged 10.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. Also Nominated: Jekobe Coleman, Maryville; Jordan Lewis, Averett; Trey Minter, Berea.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Nakiyah Washington, Piedmont - The Adairsville, Georgia sophomore forward averaged 21.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 steals per contest as the Lions posted a 3-0 record last week against USA South competition and clinched the top-spot in the upcoming Conference West Division Tournament. In an 81-60 win over LaGrange, Washington posted a double-double of 31 points and ten rebounds with nine steals and one assist. In a two-game road sweep of nationally-ranked Maryville, Washington averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 steals and 4.0 rebounds. Also Nominated: Destiny Williams, Brevard; Lauren Livingston, Greensboro; Lauryn Cross, William Peace; Kimberly Schuh, Meredith; Megan Rouse, Covenant; Kadie Snipes, Methodist; Myrayna Watkins, N.C. Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Lauren Livingston, Greensboro - The Greenwood, South Carolina freshman guard averaged 33.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game as the Lions swept two games from USA South foe Pfeiffer last week. In an 80-74 home win, Livingston posted 31 points, a career-high eight assists, six rebounds and two steals. In an 86-79 road win, Livingston notched her first-career double-double with career-highs of 35 points and ten rebounds, to go along with three assists and two steals. Also Nominated: Makenna Parkins, Brevard; Lu Woolfolk, Piedmont; Megan Rouse, Covenant; Jahlea Peters, Pfeiffer.

 

MEN'S SOCCER

Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Cameron Earls, Piedmont - The Tifton, Georgia senior forward tallied four goals as the Lions posted a 2-1 record last week. In a 5-2 win over Birmingham Southern, Earls scored the first and fourth goals of the match for the Lions. In a 3-0 loss at Pfeiffer, Earls did not play as the Lions chose to play many of their reserves. Finally, in a 3-2 win over USA South foe Covenant, Earls scored twice, including the eventual game-winning goal in the 58th minute. Also Nominated: Erik Blick, Averett; Caleb Bratager, Pfeiffer; Jack Holden, N.C. Men's Soccer Defender of the Week
Matteo Torchio, N.C. Wesleyan - The Rome, Italy freshman goalkeeper stopped all six shots he faced last week as he posted two shutouts in a 2-0 week for the Bishops against USA South competition. In a 1-0 win over Methodist, Torchio stopped one shot while in a 1-0 victory over Pfeiffer he turned away five attempts. Also Nominated: Alexander Sargeant, Greensboro; Matteo Torchio, N.C. Wesleyan; Nigel Johnson, Pfeiffer; Ian Addison, Piedmont; Colton Dutchess, Averett; Cole Hupp, Methodist.

Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Evan Saylor, Piedmont - The Dacula, Georgia freshman midfielder totaled five assists as the Lions posted a 2-1 record last week. In a 5-2 win over Birmingham Southern, Saylor assisted on four of the Lions' five goals, including the eventual game-winning score. In a 3-0 loss at Pfeiffer, Saylor did not play as the Lions chose to play many of their reserves. Finally, in a 3-2 win over USA South foe Covenant, Saylor notched one assist that came on the eventual game-winning tally. Also Nominated: Matteo Torchio, N.C. Wesleyan; Jamarcus Timmons, Pfeiffer; Alex Sonner, Maryville; Adrian Oyler, Averett; Satchel Hart, LaGrange; Sammy Sanchez, Huntingdon.

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Kirstin Hayes, Huntingdon - The St. Peters, Missouri senior forward totaled three goals and three assists as the Hawks posted a 2-0 record last week against USA South competition. In a 14-0 win over Agnes Scott, Hayes assisted on three goals, including the first and thus eventual game-winning goal, while adding one score of her own. In a 2-1, double-overtime, win over Covenant, Hayes opened the game's scoring in the 50th minute before notching the game-winner in the 106th minute. Also Nominated: Kayla Blankenship, Pfeiffer; Angela Niles, Greensboro; Abbie Petrosky, Brevard; Kristel Thompson, N.C. Women's Soccer Defender of the Week
Isabella Cross, Greensboro - The Sylmar, California senior defensive midfielder helped the Pride post their third straight shutout of the season in the team's only contest last week, a 1-0, overtime, win over USA South foe Averett. Cross anchored a defense that held Averett to just two shots on goal. Also Nominated: Rebeccah Rojas, Brevard; Madison Hatfield, Piedmont; Maggie Wilson, Maryville; Ashley Kopczyk, Agnes Scott; Lucy Sandhoff, Covenant; Alyson Kinkopf, Averett; Maggie Hunt, Methodist; Kylie Kersh, Huntingdon.

Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Leah Marr, Covenant - The Hendersonville, North Carolina freshman midfielder scored twice and added an assist in a 1-1 week for the Scots against USA South competition. In a 4-0 win over Berea, Marr notched her first career assist in the 46th minute and scored her first collegiate goal in the 88th minute. In a 2-1, double-overtime, loss to Huntingdon, Marr scored the Scots' only goal which equalized the match in the 60th minute. Also Nominated: Abbie Worsencroft, Brevard; Gabbie Hayes, Piedmont; Hailey Cartt, Maryville; Alyson Kinkopf, Averett; Jadyn Helm, Huntingdon.

 

BASEBALL

Baseball Player of the Week
E.J. Churchich, LaGrange - The senior outfielder from Bluffton, South Carolina went a combined 5-for-10 (.500) with a .500 on-base percentage and a .900 slugging percentage to go along with four runs scored, seven RBI, one double, one home run and one walk as the Panthers swept a three-game series from USA South foe Maryville last week. Also Nominated: DJ Lowry, Greensboro; Seth Grice, Pfeiffer; Davie Morgan, N.C. Wesleyan; Logan Barbour, William Peace; Ian Campbell, Maryville; Carter Ballstadt, Piedmont; Brooks DuBose, Covenant; Brandon Hatcher, Averett; Jordan Cassell, Methodist; Colton Clark, Huntingdon.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Sam Peddycord, William Peace - The junior from Kernersville, North Carolina tossed a complete-game shutout in his only appearance for the Pacers last week, a 7-0 win over Lynchburg. Peddycord allowed just two hits with zero walks and ten strikeouts. Also Nominated: Cameron Edmonds, Greensboro; Josh Topper, Pfeiffer; Trenten Anderson, Brevard; Sam Carpenter, Piedmont; Cole Spain, Averett; Will Walker, Methodist.

Baseball Rookie of the Week
Jackson Hobbs, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman first baseman from Brandon, Florida went a combined 5-for-15 (.400) with a .500 on-base percentage and a .467 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, four RBI, one double and three walks. In a 10-8 win over Ferrum, Hobbs was 2-for-3 with one run scored, one run batted in and two walks. In a three-game sweep of Virginia Wesleyan, Hobbs was a combined 4-for-12 with two runs scored, three RBI, one double and one walk. Also Nominated: Thomas Ashby, Pfeiffer; Logan Clark, Brevard; Brayden Brooks, Piedmont; Logan Albertson, Averett; Colin Whibbs, Huntingdon.

Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Trenten Anderson, Brevard - The freshman from Orange City, Florida tossed a complete-game, seven-inning, shutout in his only appearance for the Tornados last week, a 1-0 win over Averett. Anderson allowed just two hits and four walks while striking out nine. Also Nominated: Thad Lewis, Pfeiffer; Ryan Scheiderer, Averett; Tyler Roon, Piedmont; Eli Orr, Covenant.

 

SOFTBALL

Softball Player of the Week
Ivy Ray, Greensboro - The freshman outfielder from Thomasville, North Carolina was a combined 5-for-6 (.833) with a .857 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with four runs scored, two RBI, one double, one walk and six stolen bases as the Pride swept a doubleheader from Greensboro in the team's only action last week. Also Nominated: Savannah Pollock, Wesleyan; Christina White, Maryville; Katelyn Perry, Piedmont; Kassie Simmons, Greensboro; Emily White, Brevard; Jordan Holman, Covenant; Mollie Singleterry, Huntingdon.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Cheyanne Cox, Greensboro - The junior from Burlington, North Carolina tossed earned a complete-game victory in her only appearance in the circle for the Pride last week, a 6-1 win over William Peace. Cox allowed one run on nine hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts. Also Nominated: Martina Maloch, Piedmont; Beth Braswell, N.C. Wesleyan.

Softball Rookie of the Week

Emma McBrayer, Piedmont - The freshman from Powder Springs, Georgia went the distance against nationally-ranked Berry but took the loss as the Lions fell 4-3 in her only appearance inside the circle last week. McBrayer allowed three earned runs on six hits with three walks and one strikeout. Also Nominated: None.

 

MEN'S LACROSSE

Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Matt Pemberton, Methodist - The Minneola, Florida freshman attackman scored eight goals, including Methodist's first five of the game, with one assist in a 16-4 win over Randolph, the team's only action of last week. Pemberton also contributed three caused turnovers and two ground balls in the victory. Also Nominated: Liam Taylor, Averett; Spencer Kontoulas, Greensboro; Sam Duffie, Brevard; William Beyer, Greensboro; Tareyon Delgado, LaGrange; Avery Jenks, Piedmont; Quinn Becraft, Pfeiffer.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Marques Fleming, Averett - The Richmond, Virginia junior defender helped anchor the Cougar defense in a 12-5 victory over Randolph last week, the team's only action. Fleming collected nine ground balls and three caused turnovers in the win. Also Nominated: Christopher Stallings, Greensboro; Devin McCarragher, Brevard; Nathaniel Moore, LaGrange; Zach Czulada, Piedmont; Carter Favreau, Methodist; Matt Stocks, Pfeiffer; Stephen Dan, Huntingdon.

Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Liam Taylor, Averett - The Chesapeake, Virginia freshman attackman/midfielder set a new single-game program record with eight points on five goals and three assists as the Cougars defeated Randolph, 12-5, in the team's only action last week. Taylor was in on eight of Averett's first nine scored of the game while also collecting two ground balls. Also Nominated: Chase Henderson, Greensboro; Brady McGuire, Piedmont; Ryan Kavounis, Methodist; Scout Philipp, William Peace.

 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Emma Fransen, Piedmont - The Cypress, Texas senior attacker/midfielder totaled ten points on eight goals and two assists, to go along with nine draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers as the Lions posted a 0-2 record last week. In a 14-10 loss to Berry, Fransen scored six goals with two assists, four draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover. In a 20-5 loss to Centre, Fransen totaled two goals, five draw controls, four ground balls and one caused turnover. Also Nominated: Elizabeth Peasley, Averett.

Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Kaylee Joblon, Averett - The Hopewell Junction, New York freshman goalkeeper stopped 15 total shots, allowed 12.00 goals per game with a .455 save percentage in a 0-2 week for the Cougars. Also Nominated: Kellianne Schlosser, Piedmont.

Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Kaylee Joblon, Averett - The Hopewell Junction, New York freshman goalkeeper stopped 15 total shots, allowed 12.00 goals per game with a .455 save percentage in a 0-2 week for the Cougars. Also Nominated: Kellianne Schlosser, Piedmont.

 

MEN'S TENNIS

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Roberto Puig, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior from Malaga, Spain has earned two singles wins and a doubles victory so far this spring for the Battling Bishops. In singles, Puig has a win at the top-spot over Sewanee as well as a victory over Division-I Charlotte at the number-two position. In doubles, at the number-one spot, he teamed with John Falke for a win over Sewanee. Also Nominated: Patrick Dempsey, Piedmont; Ben Luke, Covenant; Jorge Figueroa, Averett.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Austin Dreslinski, Covenant - The freshman from Cumming, Georgia has earned a 4-2 singles record so far this spring at the number-two position. Dreslinski has wins over opponents from Hendrix, Ozarks, Rhodes and Berry. In doubles, Dreslinski has teamed with Solomon Crouch to earn a 3-3 mark at the top-position. Also Nominated: Silas Sandles, Piedmont; Rufus Nurminen, Averett; John Falke, N.C. Wesleyan.

Men's Doubles Team of the Week
John David Bailey and Cameron Reed, Huntingdon - The Hawk duo has earned a 3-0 record at the number-two doubles position to begin the spring season. The wins have come over Mississippi University for Women, LaGrange and Tuskegee. Also Nominated: Solomon Crouch and Austin Dreslinski, Covenant; Jorge Figueroa and Rufus Nurminen, Averett. 

 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Toni Laney, Methodist - The freshman from Catawba, North Carolina has posted a 3-0 record at both the number-two singles and doubles spots so far this spring. Laney has earned singles wins over opponents from Averett, Lynchburg and Sweet Briar. In doubles Laney has teamed with Taylor Jackson to collect the three victories. Also Nominated: Elithe Hudson, Pfeiffer; Imani Vincent, Piedmont; Paula Ryhsen, Averett; Makayla Red, LaGrange; Madelyn Savage, Covenant; Kennedy Harp, Huntingdon.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week

Victories have been posted over opponents from Hendrix, Ozarks, Mississippi University for Women and Oglethorpe.
