Beach volleyball wraps up Eckerd College Battle on the Bay

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Huntingdon beach volleyball team lost three team matches, but won one individual match on the final day of the Eckerd College Battle on the Bay on Saturday.

Huntingdon lost 5-0 to 14th-ranked Division I Florida Atlantic, lost 4-1 against Division I Morehead State and fell 5-0 to Division II Eckerd College.

Huntingdon's No. 2 team of Alexis Creasman and Bria Rochelle won 21-17, 14-21, 15-12 against Morehead State. The win was the second of the season for Creasman and Rochelle and the first for the first-year Hawks (1-11) against a Division I program.

In the win, Creasman recorded 12 digs and 10 kills and Rochelle had 25 kills and 24 digs.

Also against the Eagles, Huntingdon's No. 1 team of Audrianna Hargitt and Shelby Young lost 21-14, 21-16, the No. 3 team of Lexie DeVuyst and Alex Hillman lost 21-17, 21-7, the No. 4 team of Devyn Stringer and Gabby Hughes lost 21-15, 21-15 and the No. 5 team of Kaitlyn Carter and Samm Mamon lost 21-13, 21-11.

In the first match of the day against FAU (16-2), Hargitt-Young lost 21-11, 21-15, Creasman-Rochelle lost 21-10, 21-8, DeVuyst-Hillman lost 21-10, 21-4, Hughes-Stringer lost 21-8, 21-8 and Carter-Mamon lost 21-5, 21-4.

In the Hawks' final match with Eckerd (9-7), Hargitt-Young lost 21-10, 21-7, Creasman-Rochelle lost 21-15, 21-5, DeVuyst-Hillman lost 21-3, 21-8, Hughes-Stringer lost 21-7, 21-5 and Carter Mamon lost 21-8, 21-4.

Huntingdon plays at Webber International on Tuesday.
