Huntingdon earns first win of the season

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Huntingdon beach volleyball team earned its first win of the season with a 3-2 win over Principia on Friday in the Texas A&M-Kingsville Tournament.

The second-year Hawks split two matches on the first day of the tournament. Before defeating the Division III Panthers, Huntingdon lost 5-0 to NAIA Missouri Baptist.

Against Principia, Huntingdon took a 3-0 lead with wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5. The No. 4 team of Lexie DeVuyst and Shelby McAllister earned the first point with a 21-11, 21-11 win. The No. 5 team of April Reese and Amy Tyma won 25-23, 21-14 to make it 2-0 before the No. 1 team of Emily Fedonczak and Nichole LeFevre won the deciding match 21-17, 21-12.

In the loss to Missouri Baptist, Huntingdon went to three sets in two matches. The No. 2 team of Bria Rochelle and Alexis Creasman lost 19-21, 21-16, 15-9 and the No. 4 team of Addison Genard and Cheyenne Scarbrough lost 13-21, 21-13, 15-11.

Coming Up: Huntingdon returns to action in the Texas A&M-Kingsville Tournament on Saturday. The Hawks are scheduled to play Division II Texas A&M-Kingsville and Division III Stevenson.
