Hawks split on Day 1 of Carson-Newman Tournament

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Huntingdon beach volleyball team split with Carson-Newman and Austin Peay on the first day of the Carson-Newman Tournament on Friday.
The Hawks defeated Division II Carson-Newman 4-1 before losing 5-0 to Division I Austin Peay.
Against Carson-Newman, Huntingdon led 2-1 after three matches and clinched the victory with a 21-13, 21-16 win by the No. 1 team of Emily Fedonczak and Nichole LeFevre. The No. 2 team of Bria Rochelle and Alexis Creasman won the final match 13-21, 21-16, 15-10.
The No. 5 team of Amy Tyma and Kaitlyn Carter won 21-9, 21-13 and the No. 4 team of Addison Genard and Cheyenne Scarbrough won 14-21, 21-19, 15-13 to give the Hawks an early 2-0 lead.
The No. 3 team of Lexie DeVuyst and Shelby McAllister lost 21-14, 19-21, 15-12.
