
Beach Volleyball Takes Fifth At AVCA Beach Volleyball Championships
GULF SHORES, Ala.- After qualifying for the DIII Championship Bracket yesterday at the AVCA Beach Volleyball Championships, Huntingdon entered today with a chance to advance to the national semi-finals.
In their first match of the day, the Hawks fell to Hendrix in a heart-breaker, losing 3-2, eliminating them from championship contention before defeating Lynchburg for the second time in as many days(also by a score of 3-2) to finish as the fifth place team overall. Mary-Hardin Baylor was crowned as the champions after their 3-0 sweep of Berry College in the finals.

Match One v. Hendrix
- Ariel Helmick and Veronica Tikhomirova were defeated by Avery Evans-Brooks and Hailey Gripka 21-18 and 21-15
- Ashlen Janowski and Izzy Valldeperas defeated Mabry Matz and Eliana Oden 21-10 in each set
- Eva Ellenburg and Jessi Hilyer were defeated by Liz Roy and Jaxie Tillman in three sets, claiming the first 24-22 before losing the next two 21-19 and 15-4
- Carryne Chancey and Morgan Suggs defeated Perri Evans and Lily Meyer in three sets, winning the first 21-10 before losing the second 21-10. Ultimately, the duo of Hawks claimed victory with a 15-12 set three win
- Lydia Hitchcock and Lily VanDyke were defeated by Kailey Carrico and Lauren Rothe 21-18 and 21-14
Match Two v. Lynchburg
- Ariel Helmick and Veronica Tikhomirova were defeated by Amanda Trapp and SJ Yanz 21-12 and 21-16
- Ashlen Janowski and Izzy Valldeperas were defeated by Kailey Keough and Mady Shirey 21-19 and 21-13
- Eva Ellenburg and Jessi Hilyer defeated Jordan Palmer and Sydney Phillips in three sets, winning the first 23-21 before losing the second 21-16. The Hawks pulled through for a 17-15 set three victory
- Carryne Chancey and Morgan Suggs defeated Parker Lynch and Virginia Zalinski 22-20 and 21-19
- Lydia Hitchcock and Lily VanDyke defeated Lydia Nelson and Jamie Smith in three sets, dropping the first 21-19 before winning the next two 21-16 and 15-13
