Huntingdon baseball falters against Emory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team had its chances on Saturday but gave up eight runs in the final two innings of a 10-4 loss to Emory. The score was tied 2-2 entering the eighth inning.

Freshman Jordan Freeman was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for Huntingdon (17-7). Grant Brown, Seth Currie and Joseph Odom each had two hits for the Hawks. Brown scored twice.

Freeman singled to score Brown in the first inning. In the sixth inning, Freeman scored on an Austin White double to tie the game 2-2.

Emory (15-7) took a 4-2 lead in the eighth and scored six runs in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Odom singled to score Brown and a Freeman sacrifice fly scored Currie.

Will Davis (0-1) took the loss for Huntingdon. John Rice got the start, striking out eight, walking two and allowing two earned runs in seven innings.

Huntingdon and Emory play again on Sunday at Posey Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
