Fincher’s four-hitter frustrates Ferrum

ZEBULON, N.C. – Senior Joseph Fincher threw a complete-game four-hitter as the Huntingdon baseball team bounced back for a 7-1 win over Ferrum College on Friday in the second game of a conference series.

Game 3 is set for 11 a.m. Central on Saturday at Fleming Stadium in Wilson, N.C.

Fincher (5-2) struck out five, walked two and allowed one earned run. He held Ferrum hitless in seven innings, giving up three hits in the second inning and one hit in the ninth.

Leading 2-1 in the fourth inning, the Hawks (19-13, 14-8 USA South) scored four runs in the middle innings to ease ahead of Ferrum (19-14, 16-7 USA South).

Senior Center fielder Trammell DeJarnett was 4-for-5 with two runs and a RBI and freshman designated hitter Will Pharis was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.

Third baseman Jordan Freeman scored two runs and right fielder Cheston Wesson had two hits and a run. First baseman Tyler Blackwell and second baseman Josh Hines each had a RBI and short stop Landon Sessions scored one run.
