Huntingdon baseball comes up short in Game 3 at Emory

ATLANTA – The Huntingdon baseball team scored three runs in the middle innings but lost to Emory 5-3 in eight innings on Sunday.

The game was the final game of a three-game series with the Eagles, the second-ranked team in the South Region.

Huntingdon (21-17) tied the game 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning but Emory (29-10) answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth and another run in the bottom of the eighth.

Center fielder Trammell DeJarnett drove in short stop Landon Sessions for the Hawks' first run in the third inning. DeJarnett and left fielder Patrick Kucera scored on a two-run single by first baseman Will Pharis in the sixth inning.

Kucera and Pharis both finished 2-for-4 to account for four of the Hawks' seven hits.

Senior Tate Fowler took the loss in 5 1/3 innings before junior Trey Worthington and senior Neil Lawler closed out the game.
