Hawks knock off Oglethorpe in final home game of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team picked up a 5-3 win over Oglethorpe on Tuesday night in the final home game of the season.

Senior Zach McGrady (5-7) recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in his final start at Posey Field. In his fifth complete game of the season, McGrady allowed three runs on nine hits.

Freshman Garrett Breland opened the scoring for Huntingdon (13-24) with a three-run home run in the first inning. An RBI single by Corey Lowe made it 4-0 in the sixth inning before Taylor Fought drove in the Hawks' final run on a fielder's choice in the seventh inning.

Breland finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs and Joseph Calvert was 3-for-3 with a run. Garrett Headley scored two runs.

Huntingdon will close out the season with a three-game series at William Peace this weekend. The first game of the series is set for 5 p.m. on Friday.
