Hawks Drop Game Two At Piedmont
DEMORREST,Ga.- In the second game of their road series, Huntingdon baseball(16-16, 5-7 CCS) was defeated by the Piedmont University Lions(24-12 overall, 11-3 CCS) 6-2. The Lions came out hot, taking a 4-0 lead through the first three innings that would carry them to their second victory in the series.

Following a scoreless first inning, Piedmont got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead

Later in the same frame, a wild pitch allowed for the Lions to push their advantage to 2-0 entering the third inning

Piedmont kept building upon their lead, hammering a two run home run over the fence to bring the score to 4-0 going into the fourth inning

The Lions lead reached its peak at 5-0 in the fifth inning, scoring off a walk.

The Hawks got on the board for the first time in the sixth inning, with Davis Johnson bringing home Noah Phillips to bring the score to 5-1

Jordan Raley followed Johnson with a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt, allowing Matthew Robinson to score and cut the deficit to 5-2

An error in the 7th inning allowed for Piedmont to score their sixth and final run of the day, fending off Huntingdon to take the victory.
On the mound

Jacob McFarling took the mound to open the game for the Hawks, allowing five runs on five hits with four strikeouts

Jackson Joiner replaced McFarling in the sixth inning, allowing one run on four hits and pitching two strikeouts

JB Landrum closed for the Hawks, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in less than a full inning
