To open up the fourth, LaGrange put together three runs to push their lead to 5-1, keeping the Hawks scoreless in the following frame to cement their lead. With two more runs in the opening frame of the fifth inning, the Panthers saw their lead reach 7-1, but a sacrifice fly from Matthew Robinson brought in Daniel Phillips in the next frame to cut the deficit to 7-2.
