Hawks Go Cold At Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga.- After dropping three consecutive matchups to the Maryville College Scots, Huntingdon Baseball returned to action, this time against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels in a non-conference matchup.

The Hawks struggled at the plate tonight, recording just two hits in the 8-0 road loss as they moved to 16-10 overall on the year with a 5-4 record in CCS play.

How it happened

Through the opening two innings, neither team generated much rhythm offensively, with Oglethorpe recording the lone hit between the two teams. The Stormy Petrels opened things up in the bottom half of the third inning, sending a two-run shot over the fence to stake an early advantage. Two more home runs in the fourth innings pushed their advantage to 4-0 before the Hawks recorded a base hit. Huntingdon's Ty Pruitt brought a small amount of life to Huntingdon's offense, recording the teams first hit in the fifth inning before following up with another single in the seventh, but Oglethorpe kept pace on both sides, walking away with an 8-0 victory.

On the mound

Jable Ramey drew the start for Huntingdon and fell to 2-1 on the season. Pitching 3.1 innings, Ramey allowed 4 runs on five hits while throwing 1 strikeout. Landon Nelson, Evan Clark, Hoot Rathbun, and Will Argo each also saw time on the mound for the Hawks.

The Hawks look to bounce back on Wednesday, April 9th at Millsaps. Gametime is set for 4:00 PM CT.
