Huntingdon Esports Announces Two New Assistant Coaches

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Prior to their 2024 Spring Season, Huntingdon's Director of Esports has announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches, Ryan Doyle and Blake Phillips.

Prior to joining the Huntingdon Esports staff, Doyle spent time at Concordia University at Texas in Austin, TX, where he served as the Graduate Assistant for the esports program as both a Volunteer Head Coach and Esports Assistant before promoting to Student Lead.

His coaching experience stems from his time at Concordia where he was a coach and mentor to individuals and teams in League of Legends. He led the team to first in SCAC competition in 2021 and helped the team be ranked top 3 in SCAC for Esports 3 years in a row (1st 2021, 3rd 2022, 2nd 2023).

He also previously served as a Content Creator for Mobalytics from 2019-2021, where he created YouTube videos and educational content related to the platform.

Doyle graduated from Concordia University at Texas with a Masters of Education in Sports and Coach Administration in Fall 2023 and a Bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies of Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Communications in Fall 2021.

Coach Phillips served as the Director of Content and Esports/Sports Broadcaster for Southeastern Esports League where he directed the content team and social media content along with commentating multiple remote and in-person esports events. He also served as Creative Director for the AlabamaView, which helped create PSAs related to research being done at Auburn University.

Phillips comes with tons of experience in developing content to add to Huntingdon's repertoire, despite this being his first coaching job. He previously served as Chief Marketing Officer for Tactical Banditry (2022-2023) to help grow their presence in the esports space. He also was the Show Producer and Assistant Station Manager for Eagle Eye TV New Station, where he assisted with 25+ weekly shows' writing and production.

Phillips graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Marketing in Fall 2023.

"I'm thrilled to be able to welcome Coach Ryan and Coach Blake to the staff" Director Ellis shared.  They both provide unique backgrounds into the many perspectives needed within esports that go beyond simply coaching. Ryan comes with direct coaching background and has experience working with an esports program at a DIII school, so he knows what it takes to improve a program both as a coach and as an administrator. Meanwhile, Blake comes with a ton of production experience. Streaming and content are so important to esports and with his rocket league experience on top of abilities to help us produce strong products that will help viewers follow our program's story and growth. Both additions are going to push our ability to assist in every student's experience and growth on top of helping viewers at home enjoy watching our teams even more."
