Overwatch Qualifies For NECC Southeast Championship

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- #2 Huntingdon Overwatch (7-0 RS, 2-0 PS) has made it to the NECC Emergents Southeast Championship against #1 University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez (7-0 RS, 2-0 PS).

Last semester, the team finished 2-4 in the regular season and missed the playoffs after finishing 5th in their division.

This semester, the team ran it back with some positional changes with Freshman Captain Reagan "barofsoap" Dorsey moving to DPS, Freshman Support/DPS Aidan "Cerulean" Brown moving to support full time, and freshman Alex "BigBrain" Wasden moving from support to tank, resulting in a 7-0 regular season and a ton of clutch matches all season long, including 3 game 5 wins. This continued into playoffs against schools including #7 Southern Miss 3-2 and #3 University of Alabama - Huntsville 3-1.

Director of Esports, Justin Ellis, had this to say about the team:

"This team has always had a lot of potential and it is finally coming to fruition. Some may think they may have had an easier road based on that undefeated record, but they overcame a lot of adversity all season long and have dealt with highs and lows that make this 7-0 even more powerful. They have a lot of work left to do though, and I am excited as we prep for the biggest challenge of the season".

Along with qualifying for the regional championship, the team has qualified to at least be a part of the Last Chance Qualifier for NECC Nationals, joining Huntingdon Rocket League A and League of Legends.

The Championship is Thursday, April 11th at 7PM on twitch.tv/hchawksesports.

The starting roster consists of all freshman including:
