Huntingdon Football Soars Past LaGrange

LaGrange, Ga.-The Huntingdon Football Team has clinched sole control of the USA South Championship with a 55-9 win over LaGrange. 

At 13:41 in the first quarter, Kahari McReynolds completed a 55-yard run to give the Hawks an early lead. Troy Garner added onto the lead with a 20-yard touchdown run at 9:51. LaGrange answered back with 16 seconds left in the first quarter, completing a 6-yard touchdown pass.

At 14:54 in the second quarter, McReynolds completed a 21-yard touchdown run, giving the Hawks a 21-6 lead. With 41 seconds left in the half, quarterback Landon Cotney rushed 13 yards for a touchdown. The Hawks took a 28-6 lead into the second half.

At the start of the third quarter, McReynolds found the endzone on an 80-yard kickoff return. The Hawks took a 35-6 lead. At 12:14 in the third quarter, Cotney found Malachi Harvey for a 69-yard touchdown pass, giving the Hawks a 42-6 lead. 

At 3:08 in the third quarter, Troy Garner rushed 2 yards for a touchdown. 

Quarterback Ryte Woodruff found the endzone at 10:59 in the fourth quarter, giving the Hawks a 55-6 lead. LaGrange kicked a 27-yard field goal with 6:15 left in the game, making it 55-9.

"I am very proud of this bunch of guys and what they have overcome this year to accomplish what they have so far," Head Coach Mike Turk said. "This has been a special year for a lot of reasons. We are excited to find out tomorrow what is next for us."

The Hawks will find out tomorrow, November 14th, at the NCAA DII Selection Show, who they will face in the first round of playoffs. The selection show is at 4:30 PM CST on NCAA.com.
