Huntingdon men’s basketball loses home opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team rallied from a first-half deficit, but couldn't overtake Mississippi College on Tuesday night.

The Choctaws spoiled Huntingdon's home opener, handing the Hawks an 82-67 loss.

The Hawks (0-3) fell behind by 17 points in the first half but cut the Choctaws' lead to four in the second half. Mississippi College (3-0) answered and pulled ahead to a double-digit lead to close out the game.

Ryan Petty led Huntingdon with 14 points, five assists and three steals. Jason Varney, Jeremiah Thomas and Austin Hill each scored 11 points for the Hawks. Hill also had seven rebounds. Terry Moorer pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Huntingdon returns to action at home on Sunday against Millsaps. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
