Huntingdon men’s basketball comes up short at Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team played from behind for much of the game but took Covenant to the final seconds on Saturday.

The Scots hit four free throws in the final 15 seconds to pull out a 56-52 win over the Hawks.

Huntingdon (6-22) never trailed by more than nine points in the game. A pair of Austin Hill free throws gave the Hawks a 52-50 lead with 1:12 to play, but Covenant (13-10) answered and tied the game with 56 seconds to play.

A Huntingdon turnover gave the ball back to the Scots. Forced to foul, Huntingdon sent Covenant to the free-throw line. The Scots were 4-for-4 at the free-throw line to close out the game.

Ryan Petty scored 13 points and recorded five steals for the Hawks. Hill added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Huntingdon plays at AUM on Monday at 7 p.m.
