Huntingdon battles back but falls at buzzer against Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – The Huntingdon men's basketball team played from behind for almost the entire game but took Greensboro College to the buzzer in a 95-93 loss on Saturday.

After trailing by double digits for much of the first half and battling back into the game in the second half, Huntingdon tied the game 93-93 on a 3-pointer by James Harris with 59 seconds to play in the game.

But Greensboro scored as time expired to escape with the win.

In the first half, Huntingdon fell behind early and trailed by as many as 13 points. Greensboro carried a 50-38 lead into halftime.

Huntingdon opened the second half with a 12-2 run to pull within two points, 52-50, less than four minutes after halftime. Greensboro maintained its lead and eased back ahead to an eight-point lead, 69-61, midway through the second half.

Sparked by 11 points from Aaron Washington, including three 3-pointers, Huntingdon went on a 13-3 run to close the gap and take its only lead of the game. A 3-pointer by Washington put the Hawks in front 74-72 with 7:18 to play.

Greensboro regained the lead and never trailed again. The Hawks tied the game three times in the final three minutes, including Harris' final 3-pointer, but could not overtake the Pride.

Damien Madison, Caleb Toney, Washington, Harris and Jacob Champion combined for all but seven of Huntingdon's 93 points. Madison finished with a game-high 24 points and Toney added a career-high 21 points.

Washington finished with 16 points, Harris recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds to go with four assists and Champion had 12 points. Charvez' Hobson totaled eight rebounds and three assists and Mykel Woods had five rebounds.
