Madison receives All-Conference recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon sophomore Damien Madison was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference with the release of the men's basketball All-Conference awards.

Madison was named second-team All-Conference. He is the first Hawk to be recognized on the All-Conference teams since 2018 and just the fourth men's basketball player to be recognized since Huntingdon began competing in the USA South during the 2013-14 season.

In 26 games this season, Madison is averaging 18.3 points per game and has 38 assists and 20 steals. He is second in the USA South with 475 total points and third in points per game.

He leads the USA South, and is ranked eighth in Division III, with 163 made free throws and his 83.2 free-throw percentage is second in Division III for players with at least 190 free-throw attempts.

Madison has scored in double digits in all but two games this season. He has scored at least 20 points in 12 games and has scored more than 30 points in two games. His career-high 33 points against Brevard were the most by a Hawk since 2014 and the fifth most by a Huntingdon player during the NCAA era.

Senior Jacob Champion was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Huntingdon (13-13) will play at Averett (20-6) on Friday in the USA South Tournament semifinals. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. (Central).

Covenant's Will Crumly was named Player of the Year, Maryville's Felix Uadiale was named Rookie of the Year and Averett's Dave Doino was named Coach of the Year.
