Hawks Fall to Belhaven

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks, now 1-22 overall and 0-11 in the CCS fell to the Blazers (11-10, 6-4) with a final score of 94-77.

With an early 18-6 lead in the first six minutes, the Blazers sat comfortably. That was until Nate Johns nailed a three to bring the game back within 10 points with 11 minutes remaining. Some traded baskets for the next two minutes kept the game within reach. Leading scorer Jeremy Autin stepped up for the Hawks to bang a three at the eight-minute mark and bring the game within seven (31-24). Belhaven quickly answered with back-to-back threes to push the lead back up. The Hawks were able to bring the game back within single digits as Marcus Townsend made a layup with three minutes left in the half (42-33). Fouls from Huntingdon gave the Blazers five more points from the free-throw line and left the Hawks down ten after Rashawn Knox's last second three that sent the game to halftime (50-40).

Basket for basket is how the first five minutes of the second half began until Myles Murphy scored for the Hawks to bring the game within 7 (53-46). The leading scorer for the half, Max Gardner followed Murphy's bucket with a made three to cut the lead to four (53-49). Belhaven answered with a bucket of their own that was topped by another three from the Hawks Nate Johns (55-52). With the Hawks fighting to bring the game back to one possession, an 11-2 run by the Blazers ended the momentum streak. Belhaven's 8-0 run in the last four minutes pushed the lead further and Huntingdon was unable to overcome the deficit.
