Gardner, Brown Earn CCS Weekly Honors

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In the final week of the regular season, Huntingdon men's basketball players Max Gardner and BJ Brown have one CCS Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Max Gardner, Huntingdon

Gardner led the Hawks in scoring over two games, finishing the week with a 2-0 record with wins over Belhaven and LaGrange. Against Belhaven, he scored 21 points and added seven rebounds and three assists in the win. Against LaGrange, he posted a double-double (22 points, 10 assists) and added five rebounds and a steal.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK- BJ Brown, Huntingdon

Brown has had an outstanding rookie season with the Hawks and led his team to a 2-0 record leading into the conference championship tournament. In a win over Belhaven, the freshman guard scored a double-double (18 points, 13 assists) and added five rebounds and a steal. Against LaGrange, the Alabama native finished with 12 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals to seal the win. 

Max, BJ, and the Hawks travel to LaGrange for a battle with the Panthers in the first round of the CCS tournament on February 20th. Tip off is set for 6:00 PM CT.
