Second-ranked Huntingdon climbs to 2nd in Rd. 2 of Golfweek Invitational

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 2-over-par 290 and climbed two spots in the second round of the Golfweek DIII Invitational on Saturday.

Entering Sunday's final round, Huntingdon is second with a 19-over 595. Third-ranked Methodist leads the field with an 8-over 584. Thirteenth-ranked Carnegie Mellon is in third at 31-over 607.

The 12-team tournament features nine top-20 teams.

Methodist's Henry Angier and Andre Chi are tied for the lead after two rounds at 1-under 143.

Two Hawks are within five strokes of first and all five Huntingdon golfers are within 11 strokes of first.

Owen Burt is four strokes off the lead and tied for fourth with a 3-over 147. Burt shot 1-over 73 in the second round. Walker Hinds is five strokes out of first and tied for eighth with a 4-over 148. Hinds shot an even-par 72 on Saturday.

Peter Meilunas shot 3-over 75 in the second round and is tied for 15th with a 7-over 151. John Gaal turned in the Hawks' best round on Saturday with a 2-under 70 and is 18th with an 8-over 152. Carson Whitton shot 3-over 75 in Round 2 and is tied for 21st with a 10-over 154.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the final round of the Golfweek DIII Invitational on Sunday.
