Field set for Division III NCAA Men’s Golf Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA selection committee released the field for the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships on Monday.

Third-ranked Huntingdon will be one of 36 teams competing at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, W.V., on May 11-14.

This is the Hawks' fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the 13th since 2005. Huntingdon was the national runner-up in 2016 and 2019, tied for fourth in 2017 and tied for 11th in 2018. The NCAA Tournament was not held in 2020.

Thirty teams received an automatic berth in the tournament as conference champions. Four teams were chosen from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification.

Three Pool C bids are reserved for teams from automatic-qualifying conferences, who did not win their conference, and the remaining Pool B teams.

The top six individuals who have not qualified with a team, round out the field of 191 golfers.

Huntingdon was one of three USA South Athletic Conference teams to earn a berth in the national tournament. Piedmont, the USA South champion, received an automatic berth and Huntingdon and Methodist each received Pool C bids. LaGrange's Cameron Starr qualified as an individual.
