Huntingdon in 7th entering final round of NCAA Tournament

WHEELING, W.V. – The Huntingdon men's golf team is in seventh entering the final round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.

Third-ranked Huntingdon shot 16-over-par 300 on Thursday. Entering Friday's final round, the Hawks have a three-round total of 46-over 894.

Sixth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan remains in first with a 15-over 863. Top-ranked Methodist is second at 30-over 878 and 14th-ranked Denison is third at 32-over 880.   

Huntingdon's Grant Gronka is six strokes out of first and tied for 11th with an 8-over 220. Gronka shot 4-over 75 in the third round.

Carson Whitton led the Hawks in the third round with a 2-over 73. Whitton is eight strokes out of first and tied for 18th with a 10-over 222.

Walker Hinds shot 5-over 76 on Thursday and is tied for 38th with a 14-over 226. Owen Burt also shot 5-over 76 in the third round and is tied for 54th with a 17-over 229. Peter Meilunas shot 10-over 81 in the third round and is tied for 83rd with a 23-over 235.

Four golfers are tied for first entering the final round. Denison's Marc Mitchell, Illinois Wesleyan's Jimmy Morton, Methodist's Andre Chi and Webster's Will Hocker lead the field at 2-over 214.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the final round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship on Friday.
