Big third quarter sparks Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team scored five goals in the third quarter to take control in an 8-5 win over Oglethorpe on Wednesday night.

The Hawks carried a 2-1 lead into the second half before outscoring the Stormy Petrels 5-1 in the third quarter. Huntingdon built an 8-2 lead in the fourth quarter before Oglethorpe scored three goals in the final minutes.

Leading 2-1 midway through the third quarter, Caleb Bohrer scored the Hawks' first goal of the second half. But Oglethorpe answered to make it 3-2 with 8:44 to play in the quarter. From there, Huntingdon took control.

The Hawks closed the quarter with two goals by Brandon Miller, one goal by Ian Bruggeman and one goal by Seth Howe to make it 7-2 at the start of the fourth quarter. A goal by Paul Gordon made it 8-2 with a little more than five minutes to play in the game.

Zach Barnhill, who finished with three assists in the game, had an assist on the Hawks' first and last goals of the second half. Miller finished with two goals and Howe and Brayden Puckett each had one goal and one assist. Puckett also had three ground balls.

Tyler Keiser had one goal, five ground balls, three caused turnovers and was 6-for-15 on faceoffs. Gordon, Bohrer and Bruggeman each finished with one goal. Bohrer also had five ground balls. Raymond Edwards had two caused turnover and six ground balls and

Goalie Stephen Dan recorded nine saves and five goals allowed in 60 minutes.
